Free Math Word Problems

In this post we will solve some free math word problems for grade 4 and grade 5 math students.

Word problems are also named story problems. These problems help us apply the maths we have learnt in our day to day life.Solving 4th and 5th grade math word problems is very easy and interesting.


Try to solve these word problems:


1) Jenna’s cookie jar had 16 cookies in it. She baked 24 more cookies. When they cooled, she added them to the cookie jar. What is the new total number of cookies in Jenna’s cookie jar?

2) Justin read 51 pages of his book on Monday. On Tuesday, he read 38 more pages. How many pages did he read on both days combined?

3) Joey, John, and Hannah went to the movie theater. Each ticket cost $7.30. Wha! t was the total cost of the tickets?

4) Martin’s mother gave him $20 to spend at the store. He bought a book for $3.51 and a candy bar for $1.29. How much did Martin spend in all?

5) Martin planted twenty-six tulip bulbs and thirty-nine daffodil bulbs. How many bulbs did he plant in all?
